To Die for – Kourtney Kardashian’s Balenciaga City Bag

19 Oct

I am a huge designer handbag gal and I believe that once you carry a designer handbag you never want to go back to a store brand bag again.  I am in love with Kourtney Kardashian‘s Balenciaga City Bag in black.  It is a high ticket item at $1395.00 but we can all dream.  Kourtney uses this bag a lot.

Papparazzi photos show her wearing this bag with casual outfits like jeans and sweaters and also with dressier items like dresses and heels.

It seems that it is a good “go to” bag.  Unfortunately not all of us can grab a $1400 bag as our staple item.  😦

Check out this look a like that may work for you without breaking the bank.

To Die For – Anthropologie Items

11 Oct

After a “share” from a friend I am totally obsessed with Anthropologie.com’s merchandise.  I love the vintage, one of a kind look and feel of their pieces. They are on the pricey side but some would be great pieces for fall that you could easily mix with other items in your wardrobe.  Here are my favorites

Flanders Fields Cardigan, – This would look great paired with a fitted white tee and a pair of skinny jeans and boots $128
Alice in Autumn Sweatercoat,- I am dying of this coat, not only the stunning mustard color that would look amazing paired with jeans and a tee or a cocktail dress but the cut is great and would work for many body types $168
Sweeping Stitch Heels, – These amazing suede pumps look super comfortable with a stacked thick heel.  They come in black which could be paired with so many items or a vintage inspired turquoise that would look stunning with black, brown, gray, well any color really  $118
Orielle’s Filigree Cuff, – stunningly beautiful $48
who’s the fairest mirror, – Love this, great for a putting on your makeup.  Love the fairy inspired twig detail $148

Check out Anthropologie’s  site for more amazing finds. Enjoy!

New Favorite Things: Legging with Faux Leather Inset

11 Oct

I bought some leggings yesterday that I was a little iffy on,  New York and Company’s Black Legging with a faux leather inset. They have a equestrian feeling with an edge, with a faux leather inset on the inner calves.  I put them on this morning and I absolutely love them.  I automatically feel slim and chic with a little bit of unexpected surprise on the inside of my leg.  Another great thing is that they were only $9.99!

The thing to remember with leggings is, they are not pants.  Your top needs to be a little bit billowy and or cover your butt, be careful b/c you don’t want to come out with Kim Kardasian legging butt.  The best way to wear them are over tunics, under small/short dresses or large sweaters with boots, booties or heels.

Today I have them on at work so I am super casual with a flowing, long black ruffle tunic also from New York and Company, Jessica Simpson patent leopard sandals and gold accessories from Forever 21.

They would also look great paired with a flowing tank, fitted blazer, booties and some glam accessories for a night on the town.

However you decide to wear your leggings make sure to take a hard look at yourself before walking out the door and remember that these are not pants and unless you have the perfect body (let’s be honest, no one does) you should have your but covered by your top.

Stephen Joseph Quilted Backpacks Make Awesome Gifts

5 Oct

4 years ago when Bailor was a baby I came across a great line of products called Stephen Jospeh.  They make all sorts of kids/toddler products from backpacks to water bottles to nap mats.  The best thing about these products is that they have the cutest prints and are perfect for monogramming.  Bailor had the quilted backpack in Pirate with his name monogrammed in Red on the flap…super cute and machine washable, the best.

Now that Luna is getting to that age where a full size diaper bag is not needed I started looking into these bags for her and I came across some of the cutest girl prints for Stephen Joseph bags that have all of the same features that I loved in the bag four years ago with updated modern designs for a little girl.  You can normally find these bags in specialty kids stores retailing for around $24 or so.  I am in love with the Owl and Cupcake Print for girls and I love the Farm print for boys.  There are tons of cute prints and color combos and all look super cute monogrammed.

If you are in the Central Louisiana area JoJo’s Flowers in Bunkie and Marksville carries them.  (Check out JoJo’s Flower’s facebook page for photos of their prints, don’t forget to tell them that Drama Filled Mama sent you!)

All in all great gift for birthdays or Christmas and I am sure that if you have a sewing machine that does small monograms that would work on these little backpacks.

Zara Leopard Scarf…as seen on Kourtney Kardashian

4 Oct

So I saw a photo of Kourtney Kardashian in a Zara Leopard Scarf and I am in love with it!!! The problem is that I cannot find the thing online for the life of me.  Anyway I found a pretty good substitute for around $35 on yesstyle.com.  This scarf would be a great addition to any wardrobe as it would look great with black or brown, paired with skinny jeans with a long sleeve white tee and boots or with your little black dress.  Super versatile peice that allows people that love leopard to shout it proud and others that are afraid to wear the print to use it sparignly.

Love it…Hope I can find it.

Chic Dresses for Baby/Toddler

23 Sep

I am always on the lookout for really different, unique items for baby and I found a new love. Classy Sassy Girls on Etsy.com. The main item showcased on this designer’s account is a rufflely girls dress but there are slight variations of the dress that are really stunning and would be great for photos or that special event.

My Favorites

Chiffon Rosette Dress – This dress is a one shoulder silhouette that is rarely seen in kids fashion and is totally unexpected.  This dress has sweet girly appeal while still being something chic and cool that mom would wear.  Its custom fit and can be made into a crazy amount of colors – $120.00

Ivory Chiffon Ruffle Dress – This dress reminds me of the flapper era in the 20s.  Its got a simple satin tank top with a chiffon ruffle bottom.  This dress as well is custom made to your measurements and can be made in almost any color.  This would be a great alternative to a cheesy off the rack flower girl dress and the bride would be guaranteed to love it – $120.00

Black and White Polka Dot Pettiskirt – While this is very cliche cute little girl it has a cool edge.  It’s made of a silk white and black polka dot fabric with a black chiffon like fabric underneath.  It could be paired with a dressier top and really made into an outfit for an event and would be great for photos.   – $70.00

Their models have really cute hair accessories and I looked all over the etsy site for the designer or a link to a person selling these bows/hair accessories but can’t find them 😦

Hope you like these items as much as I do

Winter Coats for Baby/Kids

20 Sep

A few weeks ago I did a post about winter hats for babies and it got such a great response that I thought giving you guys some great options for winter coats for your little ones might be as helpful.  Well I live in Louisiana so purchasing a winter coat for my kids usually doesn’t come until about December as it doesn’t “really” get cold here until January but there are lots of cute ones out there in all budgets.

Childrens Place Boy's Gray Pea CoatChildren’s Place – Girls Motorcycle Jacket.  For that tough little diva with a whole lot of attitude.  This jacket would look adorable paried with jeggings  or even a tutu and tights.  – $19.50 Probably not super warm though 🙂

Children’s Place – Boys Gray Pea Coat. This jacket is super cute and classic.  With its nice gray color it can be paired with so many things and gives your little guy some Edward Cullen appeal, as if he needed it 🙂 Its only $14.50 but there are limited quantities so you might need to hurry

Old Navy – Moleskin Military Coats. If you want your little diva to rock one of Old Navy Ruffle Coatthis falls hottest trends this coat is for her.  It comes in both Navy and Pink so that it can match any outfit.  The mitiltary button and strap detail across the front are super cute and really hip right now.  It’s only $20 b/c its on sale so I am sure there aren’t many left.

Old Navy – Ruffle Wool Blend Coats. If you want more of a traditional look for your little girl this ruffle collar coat has a very traditional “little girl” feeling while still being functional and cool.  It comes in hot pink and black and would look cute with jeans and boots or over her dressy Christmas dress.  At $39.50 it is a pricier option for Old Navy but really cute.

Old Navy Hooded Faux Leather Bomber JacketOld Navy – Hooded Faux Leather Bomber Jacket. Such a cute look for a little boy.  Not only will it look cute with his jeans and khakis this fall and winter its faux leather which means no stains and easy wipe off surface for you mom.  At $49.50 it is a bit pricey but it looks like it would be really warm.

Gap – Red Trench. This comes in both baby/toddler sizes and big girl sizes.  Its a cute cut and style and would work well with jeans and boots or with dresses and tights.  It may be a tough color to match however at it seems to be a more orangey red.

Also if you can sew there are some really cute patterns on etsy.com Here are a few that I like.

Stylish Kids coat pattern, double breasted with peter pan collar.

Trendy Unisex Pea Coat – This could be made with so many cute fabric or lining choices…bringing something really simple and classic to super fun and unique.

Adult/Couples/Maternity Halloween Costume Ideas

15 Sep

After my post a few weeks ago about kids Halloween costumes I got a request to do a post about Halloween costume suggestions and ideas for adults, couples and preggos so I decided to run with it.  The Most popular costumes this year will include Alice and Wonderland characters, Avatar characters and vampires a la Twilight Saga.

Adult/Slutty  – If you don’t want to be a “Slutty ________” then most online costume stores are not for you.  But if you do there are some really fun/sexy costumes if you have the body and money for them.  Some of my favorites include Rainbow Bright, Princess Jasmine and the Sailor but there are litterally 1000s of these types of costumes all over the internet…simply type Sexy Whateever you want to be” into a Google search and you will find what you are looking for. Also good news is that most of these types of places carry plus sized costumes now so if you are not a size 2, you can still look hot on Halloween.

I love the idea about really iconic costumes that people recognize put are not mass marketed, so you really stand out at a party b/c there is no one in the same costume.  I saw a cool costume for a Dharma Initiative Worker from Lost that was so great.  Making a Smruf/Smurfette costume would be really cute especially with the new movie coming out.  They have Smurf costumes online but they are kind of cheesy.  I also really like costumes that reference people from our generation would remember Doug Funnie, Rugrats, Wild and Crazy Kids etc.  can’t be originality

Couples – There are 100s of cliche costumes for couples, Ragedgy Ann and Andy, Salt and Pepper, Wilma and Fred Flinstone, but some of my favorites include really off the wall stuff, Doug Funnie and Patty Mayonnaise would be great.  I also saw some funny gay couple costumes, The Ambiguously Gay Duo Ace and Gary Costume is great and would be sure to get you noticed at your party Mario and Luigi would also be great.  Forrest and I were Sweeny Todd and Ms. Lovett a few years ago, we made our costumes but now they offer costumes for it.  I wore a  beer maid costume and carried a rolling pin and Forrest wore a pair of gray suit paints, a pirate shirt, black pirate vest, black wig with white stripe but the bloddy towel in his belt made the costume.

Preggers – Having a great costume for Halloween while pregnant is a challenge. There are the cliche items, Bun in the oven, barefoot and pregnant, pregnant nun etc.  I would suggest painting your stomach to incorporate it into your costume if you can.  Many sites offer maternity Halloween costumes if you must but I would suggest being creative and making something yourself.  Parents magazine has a great article with ideas and real life photos that are great for inspiration.  The “mother of pearl” is to die for. But some of these “costumes” could be done really easily and inexpensively.

Good Luck and Have Fun!!!!!
