“The Runaways” Starring Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart

28 Jul

If you guys haven’t heard Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart recently starred in a film called “The Runaways” which is a bio pic about the 70s girl band who became famous with their well know hit “Cherrybomb.” Fanning plays lead singer and super young sex symbol Cherie Currie and Stewart plays badass Joan Jett.

Both girls do a great job depicting their characters which I am sure is super difficult anytime playing a well know “real” person.  The girls also did all of their own vocals which is pretty impressive.

The movie follows the band as they are established go on their first tour and their breakup.  Since this is set in 1975 the movie has a really cool feel with lots of vintage details that make the sets and scenes feel really authentic.  All in all I was super impressed.

“Linger” by Maggie Stiefvater

27 Jul

I just finished “Linger” by Maggie Steifvater. It is ahte 2nd book in the “Shiver” series.  This series follows Grace an ordinary 17 year old girl who fins herself in love with a wolf.  This wolf Sam is actually a werewolf who turns into a human in teh summer.  They meet and fall in love and find a “cure” for Sam in the end of “Shiver”

“Linger” follows Sam and Grace’s romance as well as a few new characters that carry over from”Shiver” Weird things start to happen when Grace, who was bitten by wolves when she was little and should be a werewolf as well but is not, starts to feel strange.  This book also adds in the narrative of Isabel and Cole giving the reader 2 more viewpoints into the series.

If you like “Shiver” you will like this book.  It wasn’t quite as fun loving as “Shiver” but I feel like this book gave some different views into the story which makes it nice as a reader to see the story through others eyes.

This is a video of a project I did my senior year at UL.  We had so much fun making this silly video about a janitor who goes on a killing spree by throwing students down an elevator shaft.

Check it out and let me know what you think.

Forrest’s Delicious Baked Ziti

26 Jul

Forrest made an amazing Baked Ziti dish last week and it was pretty darn amazing.  Hope you like it.  Try it out and let me know what you think.

1 lb ground turkey
1/2 onion minced
1 lb ziti pasta
1 jar of Ragu or other pasta sauce
1 cup mozzarella sauce
1/4 cup bread crumbs
Salt
Pepper
Italian Seasoning

Brown the turkey with the onion and salt and pepper.  Once meat is cooked add in jar of sauce.  Boil pasta based on directions.  Combine meat sauce and pasta in a casserole dish.  Top with cheese, bread crumbs, salt, pepper and italian seasoning.  Bake at 400 until cheese is melty and browning on top.

If you use 93/7 Turkey, low fat mozzarella cheese and light pasta sauce this dish will be about 7 points per cup.

The World Would Be a Better Place If…

24 Jul

we would all love each other as children do. Children have the best outlook on people. They don’t know that certain races, people of sexual orientation etc are different and they treat them just as they would anyone else because they don’t know any better. We should all act this way and treat other as if we were children with blinders on, not knowing to treat others differently for reasons beyond our control.

Baby Food Smoothies…Luna Jane loves them!

24 Jul

We just recently started feeding Luna Jane, who is almost 6 months, baby food, only fruit so far.  I came across organic fruits in these really cool twist off cap, squeeze out pouches and we had to try them.  At first we tried feeding them to her with a spoon like we had with the normal baby food but these organic fruits are a bit more watery and makes them difficult and messy to feed with a spoon so we started adding them to her “thick milk” bottle (bottle with rice or oatmeal cereal mixed with her formula) and she loves them

They make feeding her fruits to her new and fun and not messy at all. We are about to start veggies but we will keep veggies in a bowl with a spoon. Veggie smoothies don’t sound that appetizing.

Anyway, check them out you can find the fruits at Babies R Us.  We use “Plum Organics” and “Ella’s Kitchen organic Baby Food” the best thing about these baby foods are that they are all organic and it is so nice to see ingredients that don’t involve acids or other preservatives.  They are also really easy to store as the cap is screw on and while they are not super cheap Babies R Us normally runs specials on them.

Luna Jane likes the mangoes and strawberries and apples.
